Model No Kill Resolution

Stayin' Alive Long Beach drafted a resolution in 2014 that would put in place a Lifesaving Programs Implementation Plan at the Long Beach Animal Care Services Shelter. We presented it to Mayor Garcia after the election in June 2014 and never heard back from him about it. This is the step that would guarantee sustainable programs and policies at the Long Beach animal shelter -- the thing that would protect our shelter animals for decades to come, no matter who the director is or which way the political winds blow -- but the Mayor has turned a blind eye, not even responding to our inquiry as to whether he has reviewed it.

Exhibit A - Lifesaving Programs Implementation Plan

This is Exhibit A to the Model No Kill Resolution. The Lifesaving Programs Implementation Plan lays out the types of programs and policies that the Long Beach Animal Care Services animal shelter needs in order to truly maximize its lifesaving capacity. The public overwhelmingly approves such policies, yet the City of Long Beach has not taken action to put them in place.
